So far as discovering castles lost to the outside world reclaimed by forests and undergrowth, Castell Tal y Fan is definately one of the best examples of castle-finding.
You will definately need a decent map and like us, the help of the local farmer to help in your explorations.
Luckily for us the friendly farmer passing by on his tractor used to play in amongst the ruins as a young child and was happy to show us the way.
You will need decent footware and if its been raining, definately wellies or boots.
Once you do find the ivy clad walls of the castle, located next to an old forgotten farmers cottage, that looks just as ancient and ruinous as the castle itself, you will thoroughly enjoy the discovery element from your efforts and a walk round the ruins a rewarding experience.
