Castle Stewart is a ruinous 16th century four storey tower house which once included a courtyard with kitchensand out buildings, long gone and now burried beneath the modern house. The castle is named after Colonel William Stewart, who made his fortune fighting for Gustovo Adolphus of Sweden in the 30 year wars during the 17th century.
The tower is located on a non defensive site and can be seen from the roadside. There is also a footpath that takes you through the field adjacent to the road to the ruined tower house. With consideration you can view the exterior of the ruin.
Sadly there is no history associated with the castle itself.
