Kilberry Castle is an imposing private mansion built in 1844 but does contain the remains of a 15th century L-plan tower house.
You should first seek permission from the owners for photos.
However, there are some very well preserved sculptured stones near the entrance to the driveway that are on public display and are well worth a look.
~ History ~
1497 ~ The Campbells build themselves a tower house in order to control the coastal road along the west side of Knapdale.
1513 ~ An English pirate Captain Proby, attacks and burns the tower.
1670's ~ Angus Campbell is laird of the castle.
1715 ~ Dugald Campbell of Kilberry signs an oath of allegiance to King George I during the Jacobite uprisings.
1772 ~ The castle is accidently burnt to the ground and despite being rebuilt, only part of the old castle is built into a new comfortable mansion,
