Coldoch Broch is situated in beautiful woodland in thrgrounds of Coldoch House. It is a rare example of a lowland Scottish broch, a fact which may be reflected in some unusual aspects of its architecture. The broch is almost 30 feet in diameter, within a massive drystone wall up to 18 feet in places and to a height of 5.2m and 5.8m in thickness and stands up to almost 5 feet in height. The entrance passageway lies on the east-north-east part of the circuit and the remains of a stairway can be seen immediately adjacent. There are also three small intra-mural chambers with square angles, which appears unique to this broch as it is not repeated in any other broch.
You can get to the broch by parking near the entrance to Coldoch house with consideration on the main road abd taking the driveway towards the outer buildings, before taking a woodland track on your right. See the map below.
