Auchness Castle is a very altered and extended small 16th-century tower house of three storeys that is now a lovely farmhouse.
The name derives from Gaelic and Norse "the field at the point".
The castle is strictly private but can be viewed from the main road.

1621 ~ Alexander M'Dowall, Laird of Logan, settles the lands of Auchness upon his bride, Jane Agnew, as part of her dowery.
