Part of the 16th century Barclosh tower-house still survives, but is in a very ruinous  condition.

One section of remaining wall is 4 feet thick and rises 27 feet high.

It is located in the garden of a lovely farmhouse.

The castle is associated with the McFergus and Herries families.

It was Maxwell Herries whi helped Mary, Queen of Scots, flee to England after the Battle of Langside in 1568.

Sadly there is little if any history of what remains of this small ruinous tower.
