Conzie Castle (Bognie Castle), Aberdeenshire

Forgue, Huntly

AB54 6BW

Conzie Castle can be found alongside the A97 where there is a small field entrance where you can park to get a view of the castle.

Access is restricted as it is located in the middle of the farmers field.

Unfortunately there is next to no history recorded of this ruin which is a shame.

~ History ~

1501's ~ James Dunbar inherits his fathers estates, which includes their property at Conzie. The Dunbar's continue to hold Conzie until 1660.

1680's ~ Clan Morrison acquire Conzie and build themselves a four storey Tower to secure their land. They however never live in the castle and after acquiring Frendraught Castle, which they deem for suitable for their needs and so abandon the castle which in turn soon becomes a free source of building material for the local population.
